Metro energy feedback device developed by TEC was put into trial operation in the western section of Beijing Metro Line 14 on May 5, which marks the first application of TEC’s urban rail power supply system in the main line.

Urban rail power supply system is like blood vessel of vehicle operations and also a big consumer of urban power grid. According to statistics, power consumption accounts for over 30% of the total operating costs in urban rail. The urban rail operators have always been puzzled by the problem of how to provide a secure, stable and high efficient power supply system. Our energy feedback device is a good and effective solution to the problem. The device achieves the goal of sending the AC, which is transformed by regenerative power generated when braking, back into AC grid. The  transformed AC by using power electronics conversion technology supplies power to other electric equipments nearby, resulting in decrease of the power consumption per time unit of vehicle traction system and achieves energy saving.

Data shows that the energy generated when braking accounts for above 40% of traction energy of the urban rail vehicles. The energy feedback device developed by TEC can effectively control traction net voltage and recover energy, making vehicles even more smoother and safer during operation.
